Board Member

Alan Bentley, M.S.

Assistant Vice Chancellor
Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization Vanderbilt University.

Alan is responsible for directing all aspects of the Center for Technology and Commercialization, focusing on faculty service and transactional efficiency. Prior to Vanderbilt, Alan served for 5 years as the Director of Commercialization for Cleveland Clinic Innovations, that healthcare center’s technology commercialization function. Before the Cleveland Clinic, he served as the Associate Director of the University of Virginia’s Patent Foundation. Alan received his MS in physics from the University of Virginia, and separate BS in electrical engineering and in physics from Carnegie Mellon University. Alan is a registered patent agent and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of University Technology Managers.

Trygve Mikkelson

Founder and General Partner of T+T Holdings, LLC

Trygve is the Founder and General Partner of T+T Holdings, LLC, a private investment company focused on private equity and hedge fund investments. He is currently a Director of HealthPrize Technologies, Applied Silver, Best Response Strategies, and nPhase. He previously served as the Chairman of Amkai and a Director of Sprout Pharmaceuticals, Slate Pharmaceuticals, and Diabetica Solutions. Prior to founding T+T Holdings, Trygve was a Managing Director with Citigroup (2004-2007), Deutsche Bank (1999-2002), and Credit Suisse First Boston (1987-1999). His specialty as an investment banker was M&A advisory, primarily with a focus on healthcare. In addition to his advisory responsibilities, he has held several management positions including Head of US Healthcare at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was also appointed to the Investment Banking Management Committee. Prior to investment banking, Trygve worked for McKinsey & Co. in Scandinavia. Trygve graduated cum laude with a BS from University of Utah, where he was an All-American skier, and he received an MBA with Honors from Columbia University.

Ben Walton

General Partner, Mississippi Angel Fund, L.P.

Ben is the President of the General Partner of Mississippi Angel Fund, L.P. He was a founder of AutoZone, Inc. and an officer of AutoZone and Malone & Hyde, Inc. during a successful Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co. buyout of the companies. He then was SVP and Secretary of the Eastover Group of Companies, publicly held REITS that were the precursors to EastGroup Properties, Inc. and The Parkway Company. Ben later served as VP and CFO to private equity partnerships he co-originated while CFO of The Walker Companies, a family office, which included outside investors and invested in firms engaged in buyout transactions, venture capital, distressed investments, and mezzanine investments. He is an organizer of First Commercial Bank in Jackson, MS and holds a BA from Vanderbilt University, summa cum laude, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Scott Climes

CEO, nPhase

Scott has significant experience building and leading successful healthcare and technology enterprises ranging from Fortune 400 companies to start-ups. He built a strong foundation across all functional areas at industry-leading biopharmaceutical firms such as Merck, AstraZenceca, and BiogenIdec, where he was Vice President of Commercial Operations for the Oncology Business Unit. Scott leveraged his experience in biotech to found, invest, and incubate numerous successful companies in healthcare and technology. He has sat on the boards of private and publicly traded firms. He holds a BA in Economics from San Diego State University and an MBA from University of Redlands.

Mark Lama

CFO, nPhase

Mark has extensive experience in healthcare investment, finance, and operations with over 30 years of experience and over 20 years of direct private equity investing experience. Prior to joining nPhase, he was Chief Development Officer of Integrated Oncology Network, LLC where he led the acquisition and integration of over 20 cancer centers. Previously, Mark was the COO of NationsHealth, a diabetes supplies and insurance services company where he led restructuring efforts on behalf of the ComVest Group. He was also an operating and investment partner leading healthcare investments at ComVest, a leading private equity firm focused on middle market acquisitions.

Mark earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, and a BA in Physics from Colgate University. Previous board positions held include, NationsHealth, Accelerated Care Plus, Enable Corp, ScriptRx, and Futurematrix.
